Installing an Expansion Card
Expansion cards can be extremely sensitive to ESD and require careful
handling. After removing the card from its protective wrapper or from the
system board, place it component-side up on a grounded, static-free surface
or conductive foam pad. Do not slide the card over any surface.
1.
Remove the access panel (see “Removing the Access Cover” on
page 3).
2.
Remove the expansion card from its protective wrapper. Be careful not
to touch the components or the gold edge connectors.
3.
Set any jumpers or switches according to the manufacturer’s
instructions.
4.
Remove the rear foam pad from the electronics bay.
5.
Remove and save the expansion slot cover (Figure 26).
