temperatures below 96.5°F will be flagged as a low

temp. This value is not adjustable in "statistical"

mode. The statistical algorithm works to minimize

warning rates and flag true outliers rather than

absolute good or bad temperatures. This algorithm

allows some fluctuation in the average patron tem-

perature without affecting the warning rate.

•  Retain Images

Select this feature to retain the images in the back-

ground for later reference. The images will be saved on

the hard drive of the computer and can be accessed by

using the folder location on the desktop called “Stored

SmartScan

Images”. If this is not selected, then the im-

ages will not be stored in memory. Images stored in

memory will clear after 7 days of operation.

•  Display Images

Select this check box to show the image of

the person whose temperature was most recently

recorded. This will maintain the image in view until

the next person is scanned with a temperature. At this

point, the previous image will be replaced. This does

not store the images anywhere else in the system and

the image cannot be retrieved once it is replaced with

another one. Check the “Retain Images” box to store

images for later reference.

•  Feedback Audio

This is an audio option to allow for a single, high

pitch sound to be made when a face is identified and

an initial temperature was recorded. This sound will

repeat each time a new face is detected or if the same

face was detected, then lost and detected again. This

sound will coincide with the image shown on the client

software if “Display Images” is enabled.

•  Light Bar Mode

Click to select either "Simple" or "Advanced" light

bar mode.

  • Simple Mode

In this mode, the operator will see only red and

green LED indications on the light bar as a patron

passes under the

SmartScan

 unit. A scrolling green

light bar on the entry side indicates the system is

ready and scanning for faces. Solid green LEDs on

the entry side indicates face detection and normal

temp. Red LEDs on the exit side indicate high tem-

perature, low temperature or non-read.

  • Advanced Mode

In this mode, the operator sees four possible LED

color indications on the light bar. Blue indicates the

system is ready. Green indicates temperature detec-

tion. Yellow indicates low temperature or a non-

read. Red indicates high temperature.

•  Lights Duration

The lights on the operator side can be adjusted to

stay on for a select period of time if a high temp or

non-temp was detected. By default, the low temp/non-

read or high temp lights on the operator side will stay

lit for at least 2 seconds when an event occurs.  Select

the Lights Duration drop box and chose from 1-4 sec-

onds from the drop down menu. The lights on the op-

erator side will stay on for the period of time selected

when a low temp/non-read or high temp is detected.

Peripheral notes on the bottom of the client can be

seen to help provide information to the operator while

viewing the client.

•  Power Source

The Power Source note at the bottom of the client

interface will indicate when AC is connected and the

battery is charging by denoting “AC”. If the AC power

has been disconnected and the system is operating on

battery, “Battery” will be displayed.

• Battery

The Battery note indicates the total charge left in the

battery. 100% means it is fully charged and 0% means

the system will shut down in a few minutes. Pushing

and quickly releasing the power button also gives an

indication for the amount of charge left in the system.

•  System Status

System Status can either be “Ready” or “Not Ready”

with the following reasons provided in parentheses.

  • Not Ready (Camera Interface) –

SmartScan

 is

unable to communicate with the WLIR analysis

   program.

    •  Not  Ready  (Light  bar  Interface)  –

SmartScan

 is

unable to communicate with Controller Board

  • Not Ready (Cameras) – One (or both) of the

    cameras is not functioning properly.

  • Not Ready (Preheating: X more min) and Not

Ready (Sampling: X left) indicate the current

    operation of the unit.
