 Note:

SmartScan

will cease operating on its inter-

nal battery power when the Garrett walk-through

metal detector is plugged into AC power. If AC

power is disconnected during operation, LED 1

on the exit side will show green, yellow, or red.

• Power Down

Hold down the

SmartScan

 unit's power button for

approximately three seconds. Once the button is

released, a power-down alert will be heard. The

nine LED lights turn to yellow and then slowly

disappear from right to left on the exit side as the

unit powers down.

DESCRIPTION OF AUDIO RESPONSES

•  Power On / Audio On

 The

SmartScan

detector unit will give a three-

tone audio sound when turned on ranging from low

pitch to high pitch.  This sound is the same for Power

On as well as Audio On.

•  Power Off / Audio Off

When the power is turned on, the

SmartScan

 unit will

give a three-tone audio sound, ranging from high

pitch to low pitch.  This sound is the same for Power

Off as well as Audio Off.

•  Feedback Audio

  When the

SmartScan

 system initially detects a face

and records the first temperature value, there will be

a single high pitch tone.  This tone can be enabled or

disabled from the Garrett client interface under

"Feedback Audio". Default value is disabled. For

more info on Feedback Audio reference DEFAULT

  SETTINGS/INFORMATION DISPLAYS

•  Low Temp/Non-Read Audio

Low temp or non-read audio tones can be heard as

two tones, from high pitch to low pitch. This will be

heard when a detected temperature is lower than the

customizable temperature set point. The non-read

sound can only be heard when

SmartScan

 is

connected to a Garrett walkthrough that is turned on.

•  High Temp Audio

A person with a temperature higher than the temper-

ature set point will hear three high pitch tones for

high temp. The set point is set using the Garrett client

interface for both the "Multi Scan" Algorithm and

  the "Statistical" Algorithm.

SMARTSCAN BASIC CONTROLS

• Power ON/OFF

Press and release the power button to turn the

 Smart-

Scan

unit on. Press and hold the power button for

approximately three seconds and release to power off

the unit. The power button is located on the lower

right corner on the entry side of the

SmartScan

 light

bar (see Figure 3-2).

Refer to "Installation Completion" in Section 2

for details on the

SmartScan

 system warm-up process.

• Audio ON/OFF

Press and release the volume button to turn the

volume on and off. A three pitch audio tone will

sound for confirmation. The volume button is lo-

cated on the lower left corner on the entry side of the

SmartScan

 light bar (see Figure 3-2).

• Checking Battery Status

To check the

SmartScan

 unit's battery status at any

time, quickly press and release the unit's power/bat-

tery button. All green LEDs on the exit side indicate

a 100% battery charge. At less than full charge, fewer

green LEDs will be lit.

When the internal battery has less than 30% life

remaining, the LEDs will be a yellow. When the bat-

tery has less than 10% life remaining, the LEDs will

be red.
