Map Zooming and Panning
Once the StreetPilot calculates your location, you may find it enjoyable just to view
the Map Page and watch your movement along roads and streets. There will be plenty
of time later to learn about the ‘Find’ and ‘Route’ functions, but let’s keep it simple for
now.
If you’re not already looking at the Map Page, press the
P
key until the map is
shown on the screen. If the StreetPilot is still trying to determine your position, there is
a flashing question mark (?) in the center of the map (see top left picture). Otherwise,
the StreetPilot is ready to follow you as you drive.
Now, take a little bit of time to experiment with the
Z i
and
o
keys. Notice that
the further you zoom in, the more map features are shown on the map, to the point that
every street in memory is displayed. On the other hand, if you zoom out to some of the
larger ranges, it’s possible to look at the better part of a continent on the screen at one
time (see bottom left picture). In addition, you can use the rocker keypad to pan from
your current location to other places on the map.

To change the map scale:
Press
Zi
to see a smaller area with more detail.
Press
Zo
to see a larger area with less detail.
ii
To pan the map:
1. Press the
K
keypad anywhere and an arrow appears. Use the
K
keypad to move the arrow
around the map, even to areas not currently shown on the map.
2. When you are done panning, press
Q
. The panning arrow disappears.
