You will now notice that the vertical speed has been calculated, based on your
present speed. If you desire a more rapid climb or descent rate:

to activate the vertical navigation function.
If you enter a value greater than the value computed by the GNC 250XL, the time
before the maneuver is to begin will be displayed. When the countdown reaches 15 sec-
onds, you will be informed with the message ‘Start altitude chng’. The VNAV function will
automatically be cancelled if the active direct-to or route is changed in any way, and you
will be informed with a ‘VNAV cancelled’ message.
The GNC 250XL allows you to create up to nine
checklists
with 30 items each to
remind you of repetitive tasks. These checklists can be called up at any time for review
and are useful for creating pre-flight checklists, landing checklists, emergency proce-
dures, etc. Each name or function can have up to 16 characters each.
To create a checklist:
1. Press
N
and rotate
O
until NAV Menu 1 is displayed.
2. Press
C
twice and rotate
O
until ‘Chklist?’ is highlighted. Press
E
.
3. Press
C
and use
O
to highlight the checklist you would like to create or edit.
Press
E
.
4. Use
K
and
O
to enter the title of the checklist. Press
E
.
This will display the checklist items page. On this page you can enter each task,
such as ‘Check Fuel’.
5. Use

to enter the checklist item. Press

6. You may repeat step 5 to enter additional items, or press
C
to finish.
