7 MAINTENANCE AND CARE
Before carrying out any maintenance
or cleaning work, pull off the sparkplug
connector!
Do not spray the unit with water. Water
which gets into the ignition system or the
carburertor may result in malfunctions.
Clean the unit with a cloth, hand brush, etc.
When the mower is tilted to the side,the
carburettor must be pointing upwards!
Expert inspection is required:
- if the lawn mower strikes an object
- if the motor stops suddenly
- if the blade is bent (do not align!)
- if the motor shaft is bent (do not align!)

if the gears are damaged

if the V-belt is defective
Changing the oil / air filter / spark plug
See operating manual supplied by the engine
manufacturer.
Drive gears
The gears are maintenance-free.
Replacing and sharpening the mowing
blade
At the end of the mowing season always
sharpen the mowing blade or, if required,
replace the mowing blade with a new one.
Always have the mowing blade sharpened
or replaced by a customer service centre
(measurement of imbalance).
Unbalanced blades will cause the
lawn mower to vibrate violently
– risk
of accident!
Starter battery
The starter battery is recyclable.
Do not dispose of used, leaking or
defective starter batteries with the
household rubbish!
Batteries must even be taken out of units which
are to be recycled and disposed of accordingly.
Starter batteries can be disposed of in the
proper manner by your dealer or at municipal
collection points (recycling yard).
Charging the starter battery
The starter battery (Pb) is maintenance-free.
Before switching on the mower for the first time,
the starter battery should be recharged.
The battery recharges itself while the lawn is
being mown.
Recharge the battery if discharged, before the
winter break or if the machine is not to be used
for a prolonged period (> 6 months).
1) Take the battery charger out of the battery
case.
2) Disconnect the battery cable from the engine
cable.
3) Connect the battery cable to the battery
charger cable.
Connect the battery charger to the power
supply.
The charging time lasts approx. 36 hours.
Use only the supplied original battery
charger.
Charge the starter battery in a dryroom
only!
Do not operate the lawn mower while
the battery is being charged!
Storing the unit
After mowing, clean the unit thoroughly.
Store the unit in a dry room
– allow the motor
to cool down before hand.
To reduce storage space, the upper handle
can be folded down. Unscrew the wing nuts by
approx. 6 revolutions.
Caution: do not bend or deform flexible
cables.
During winter store the starter battery in a
frostfree location.
Mulching cut (optional)
1) turn off the machine and ensure the blade
has stopped.
2) lift the back stone-guard and fit the plug
provided.
3) release the stone-guard.
