UPS Communications (Optional)
The UPS is supplied with an optional internal communications card (GmaC),
which allows you to continuously monitor and control systems connected to a
PC from a local or a remote location. Access to this card is from the back of
the UPS. See Section
10
GMAC (Gamatronic Management Card)
, on page 49.
To prepare the site for GmaC communications capabilities:
1.
Install an Ethernet RJ45 communications outlet next to the UPS.
The outlet must be connected to the Local Area Network (LAN).
2.
Supply a standard Ethernet Category 5 cable of the length necessary to
connect the UPS to the Ethernet (RJ45) outlet.
3.3 Installation Process
Only an authorized electrician may perform
installation. Do not attempt to perform any of the
following instructions on your own.
Electrical codes may vary according to location.
Observe all local, state, and federal electrical codes
for acceptable external wiring practices
.
If the UPS is not installed according to the
instructions in this manual, it may interfere
with radio communications equipment. The
UPS has been tested and found to comply
with the limits for a Class A computing
device pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC rules,
which are designed to provide reasonable
protection when operated in a commercial
environment.
Operation of this equipment in a residential
area may cause radio frequency interference,
in which case the user will be required at his
own expense to take whatever measures may
be necessary to shield the UPS.
