This command executes a seek operation of the cylinder/track where the logical data block
specified in the "Logical block address" field in the CDB exists.

In the FC, after the CDB is received, Loop CLOSE processing is performed. After that, the
IDD executes Loop OPEN processing and reports the status at the point when the seek
operation is completed.

In cases where skip processing or replacement allocation is performed for sectors specified in
the logical block address field, a seek operation concerning the skip destination or replacement
destination is performed on the secondary side.

When the specification in the "Logical Block Address" field in the CDB exceeds the
maximum logical block address, that command terminates with the CHECK CONDITION
status (ILLEGAL REQUEST [= 5] / Logical out of range [= 21-00] and the seek operation on
the disk medium is not performed.

Details of Seek Command Error Retry Processing and Error Recovery Processing

In error retry and error recovery with this command, the following retry and recovery
processing is applicable. Furthermore, just as when set in the FACTORY Mode,
processing is in accordance with the parameters in the MODE SELECT command.

Seek Retry: This is in accordance with the MODE SELECT command (Page 21, Byte 2,

Def 31 times).

•

When there is a specification in the PER bit in Page 1 of the MODE SELECT
command, when saved from the error, RECOVERED ERROR [= 1]/ Content of
successfully recovered error (*) is reported.
Also, when this command terminates normally, and when terminated by the
"RECOVERED ERROR" sense key, this command shows that the seek operation was
performed correctly in the specified LBA.
