6.4 General Troubleshooting

Turn on the library again, and turn off the host. Do not turn on the host again
until the power-on process of the library is completed.

To use the Fibre Channel, turn the devices on in the correct order (switch,
library, and host).

Contact maintenance personnel.

6.4.3 Cartridge

Writing to tape fails.

Confirm that the write protect tab is set to write enabled.

Confirm that the overwrite-disabled setting of the backup software is off.

Check the file system access permissions of the host device.

Confirm that the correct type of tape is being used.

Try using a new tape.

CAUTION

Damage to the library:

During troubleshooting, do not insert a

defective tape into another drive. The defective tape may damage the
drive.

Tape is stuck in the drive.

Turn the library off and then on again, and try using the operator panel to eject
the tape.

Confirm that the backup host software has not reserved the slot. If the slot has
been reserved, the reservation must be cancelled.

Perform a reset operation from the operator panel to check if the tape is ejected.

Contact maintenance personnel.

6.4.4 CAS

The CAS cartridge cannot be accessed.

From the operator panel, open the target CAS door. Then remove the magazine.

Remove the tape.

Reinsert the magazine.

If the magazine is defective, contact maintenance personnel.

6.4.5 Compatibility

The cleaning or data cartridge is not compatible with the drive.

Confirm that a cleaning or data cartridge compatible with the drive is being
used.

Confirm that the correct barcode label is affixed.
