2.4 Nomenclature and Functions of Ultrasonic Endoscope Distal End

The distal end of the EG-580UR consists of the following parts.

Instrument Channel Outlet

Forceps or endotherapy device emerges from

this part.

This portion is also used as a suction inlet.

Air/Water Nozzle

This nozzle jets air or water onto the objective

lens with the air/water valve operation.

Transducer

This portion transmits and receives

ultrasonic waves.

Balloon Attachment Grooves

This portion is used to attach

the balloon ring.

Imaging Section (Inside)

Light Guide

The light from the light source is emitted from

these windows.

Objective Lens

This lens forms an endoscopic image on

the CCD.

Balloon Water Port

Water is discharged from this portion. Discharges

water from the balloon.
