CAN Transceiver(MCZ33905S5EK) Configuration 

The starter kit TRK-MPC5604B is equipped with a SBC (System Basis Chip) which also fulfils the 
role of a CAN transceiver for FlexCAN1 (or FlexCAN4, they both have the same pins). For this 
transceiver to work, this chip has to be powered up and put in debug mode for configuration.  

And then it has to be configured using SPI commands. 

For powering this chip up, an external power source is necessary, therefore a power supply from 
9V to 12V should be used. Be aware that using an external power supply can be problematic for 
programming MPC5604B using USB, so, we suggests powering up the board from USB and 

letting the external power supply only work on the SBC.  

For putting SBC to the debug mode, a voltage over 8V must be applied to the DGB (TP1) pin. This 

can be done by removing the jumper on J4 and putting a jumper on J5. 

Once all these steps are completed, SBC can be configured using MPC5604B, the DSPI1 modules 

PORT H pins are connected to the SBC, so all that is needed is to configure DSPI1 to work on 
PORT H and send the following commands  with  over 1ms of delay between them to allow 
transient operations to be completed:
