A B O U T H I G H A V A I L A B I L I T Y

High Availability (HA) provides continuous service to end users when link
and/or node failures occur. HA functionality interfaces with almost all
subsystems of the product.

HA functionality includes three interacting state machines to provide
heartbeat, election, and synchronization functions. Synchronization is
accomplished over a TCP session using a custom protocol to synchronize
configuration data between the two nodes.
