ABOUT IP SECURITY (IPSEC)

IPsec is a suite of protocols developed by the Internet Engineering Task
Force (IETF) to enable secure exchange at the IP level. The most
common implementation of IPsec is seen in VPN deployments. IPsec can
be broken down into two different modes and protocols. The modes
include Transport and Tunnel and the protocols include AH and ESP.

T R A N S P O R T M O D E

Transport mode is a method by which the data portion of a packet is
encrypted, while the IP header information is sent in the clear. The
original packet can be authenticated with AH, while the original data can
be encrypted with ESP, and the IP header remains in clear text.
