6. Preparation and setup
The following steps must be performed to set up and prepare the machine:
Adjust the traction bar
Establish the hydraulic and brake connections
Establish the electrical connections
6.1 Draw gear
Three main variants:
Draw gear with top/bottom attachment
Hydraulically sprung draw gear (optional)
Overrun brake mechanism
6.1.1
Draw gear with top/bottom attachment [from TDK 140]
Objective
Adjustment of the drawbar height.
The vehicle is preconfigured for top or bottom attachment by the
manufacturer.
Depending on the towing vehicle, a slight adjustment of the drawbar height may be required.
This can be achieved by raising/lowering the supporting mechanism.

6.1.2
Hydraulically sprung draw gear [TDK 255]
The draw gear can be mechanically adapted to the coupling height.
Top/bottom attachment.
Procedure
Rotating the traction bar by 180° changes the trailer height from top to bottom attachment.
This variant is also hydraulically sprung and the coupling height can be changed by reducing or
increasing the oil level in the cylinder.
The cylinder must never be fully extended or retracted while driving.
Otherwise, the suspension function will not work.
6.1.3
Draw gear with overrun brake
The draw gear is connected to the overrun brake mechanism; see section 6.6.2.
