Op ti cal Beam Smoke De tec tor
Ø
CONTINUOUS FAULT (Af ter a 5 min ute pe riod of Am ber LED flash ing)
The De tec tor is not re ceiv ing a sig nal (0%).
Go back to prism tar get ing
mode.
Ø
FLASHING FAULT (Am ber LED)
The De tec tor is re ceiv ing a low sig nal (<100%) and is at tempt ing to in -
crease the in fra red power out put.
Ø
OFF
The De tec tor has op ti mised the in fra red power and re ceiver gain for the
cur rent ori en ta tion of the De tec tor and Prism. This does not mean that the
De tec tor to Prism(s) align ment is at its op ti mum, i.e. if the power is too
high, a mis aligned De tec tor may be re ceiv ing a fringe re flec tion from an -
other ob ject.
Ø
ALTERNATING ALARM/FAULT (Flick er ing Red/Am ber LED)
This state can some times oc cur. It means that the in fra red power is step -
ping be tween the op ti mum set ting (treat this state as
OFF
).
Con tinue to flow di a gram for pro ce dure (See fig.8).
6.3. Ex it ing Align ment Mode.
!
Do not re move the de tec tor from the wall dur ing this ac tion.
Us ing the mode switch (See fig. 12) se lect Run Mode (Switch will be in the
down po si tion).
On ex it ing align ment mode the De tec tor will per form an in ter nal cal i bra tion
check. The Am ber (Fault) LED will flash once a sec ond, for up to sixty sec -
onds, and then go out. If this fails, which would be due to bad align ment, or
ei ther elec tri cal or op ti cal noise, the de tec tor will in di cate a Fault con di tion.
In this case the align ment pro ce dure must be re peated.
If the in ter nal cal i bra tion check com pletes sat is fac tory, the FAULT LED in di -
ca tor will turn OFF and the fault relay will clear. The De tec tor is now in nor -
mal op er at ing mode.
+
Note: On the 50 metre and 100 metre De tec tors, the Am ber LED will
flash once ev ery 10 sec onds to in di cate the beam is op er a tional.
7. Sys tem Test ing.
Af ter suc cess ful in stal la tion and align ment the Sys tem will re quire test ing for
both alarm and fault con di tions.
7.1. Fault Test.
Us ing a non-re flec tive ob ject, quickly cover the en tire prism(s).
The De tec tor will in di cate a fault within 10 sec onds by ac ti vat ing the FAULT
LED and op er at ing the Fault Re lay.
The fault con di tion will au to mat i cally re set af ter a pe riod not greater than 2
sec onds when the ob struc tion is re moved.

For optimum alignment, mechanical
deflection of the beam in all four
