Choosing option (1) on the menu will prompt the software download configuration
display, as can be seen in figure 11. The display includes information about the TFTP
server’s IP address, the current version name, the rollback version name and the
(new) download version name, the remote file name to be downloaded and the
download status (Complete/Not started). The first time a download is performed, the
rollback line will indicate “not available”, and if there is no version to download, the
relevant line will indicate, “not configured”.
Software download configuration:
================================
TFTP server IP address: 192.168.1.42
Current version: 3.0.5
Rollback version: 3.0.4
Download version: 3.0.6
Remote file name: flash_fl_3-0-6_h.bin
Download status: Not started

By choosing option (2) in the S/W control menu the user can set the TFTP server’s IP
address. This parameter is saved in non-volatile memory (after successful upgrade) for
future downloads and can be changed at any time.
Option (3) provides the user the ability to choose the desired software version to
download. It is important to notice that digit 0 (in the left) is the most significant one.
When an invalid version number has been asked for, an error massage appears. If the
desired version number is either one of the rollback or current versions, the user will be
asked to confirm the selection.
Option (4) invokes the download process. During this process, the user is notified with
the different phases of the upgrade (download, file checksum test, flash erasure, flash
programming and program verification). Each of the phases may take some time to
complete and the progress is indicated via a dot-based ‘progress bar’. Failure during
any of the stages will result in an error message being displayed, after which normal
execution of the current version is resumed.
When a rollback version is available, option (5) provides the user with the rollback
version. The rollback version is the last version executed before the upgrade. Notice
that at first download there is no rollback version in the system. At the end of this
procedure a message is issued to inform that is has been completed.
Note that during part of the software upgrade process, system monitoring is paused
and resumed when the process is complete. It is therefore highly recommended to
perform this operation at non-critical times (e.g. during night).
Note
After a successful upgrade, the device must be power-cycled for the new version to
take effect.
