S.CON1M/MA System

Managing with a terminal (CLI management)
The second way for managing your S.CON1M/MA media converter is by using a
terminal emulation. You will need a PC (or a terminal) with a terminal emulation
program (such as ‘Hyper Terminal’).
If you wish to manage the S.CON1M/MA through Telnet, you will need to have network
connectivity to the S.CON1M/MA. A Telnet session may be started at any time after
the S.CON1M/MA has been initialized (indicated by a constant lit “Ready” LED
(located on the front panel of the S.CON1M/MA – Management section)
In both methods, you will be prompted for a user name and password. Once the
session has started it will employ a timeout mechanism. If no actions are made for
consecutive 5 minutes, the management session will be automatically ended.
Connect the supplied serial cable between the converter (miniDIN side) and a serial
port on the PC with the terminal emulation (on the DB9 side). Start the emulation
program and reset the device (recommended).
After system initialization you will get to the
device’s main menu
(figure 9)
The header of the main menu contains details regarding the software version, the
device
vendor and equipment type ( with installed MA™ )
