3 Heavy-duty stands with wheels down and pins up are unstable.
4 Part deformation due to excessive clamping force.
Compensation
1 Deflection of compensation artifact.
2 Damage to compensation artifact.
• Do not drag the probe over the FARO Compensation Plate during the plane
measurement. Lift the probe in between points to avoid scratching the
surface of the plate.
3 Poor probe compensation technique.
Probes
1 Measuring with Point Probes.
2 Measuring with chipped, loose or cracked ball probes.
3 Measuring with Probe extensions. The extensions will deflect.
Measurement Environment
1 Measuring close to an end stop can induce unwanted stress.
2 Binding or hyper-extending the Gage can cause unnecessary stress.
3 “Leap Frogging” or repositioning the device using the Move Device Position
command.
4 Excessive vibration in the surrounding area can produce unwanted results.
5 Rapid changes in ambient temperature can cause errors in the Gage's automatic
temperature compensation.
6 Measuring using poor techniques; minimum number of measured points per
feature, moving while recording individual points, small coverage area, etc.

OTE
: If the Gage is mounted on granite, do not measure objects that are not
mounted to the granite.
Gage Setup

Turn equipment on and allow to warm-up for at least 30 minutes.

Check that ambient temperature is not fluctuating more than 3°C (5.4°F) over a
five minute period.
