APPENDIX 1: System alarms
The following alarms are system alarms. The computer regularly carries out a number of tests
concerning the functioning of the computer itself. If the computer detects an error, an alarm will
be given and action taken. Normally, these alarms will not occur. However, if they do, an installer
should carry out any trouble shooting.

Backup alarm
Something has gone wrong with the
computer’s memory while it was switched
off. Settings and measurements have been
erased and the computer is controlling
based on the factory settings.
Communication is impossible during this
alarm situation.
Switch off the alarm; check computer
numbers and calibration values. Re-enter any
lost settings. If a PC is included in the
network, the settings can be protected.

Watchdog alarm
Interruption in the program.
Turn the computer “off” and “on” and check
for correct functioning.

Communication alarm
Communication between the “Master” and
the “Slave(s)” has been interrupted for a
length of time.
Check wiring and communication settings.

Memory alarm (setting changed)
An error was detected during the
automatic memory test.
Switch off alarm and set to 0.
Check all settings and calibration values.

Stack Overflow
Interruption in the program

Turn the computer “off” and “on” and check
for correct functioning.

Communication assignment
With loop communication: There is more
than one “Master” in the loop.
With network communication: There are
at least two computers in the network
with the same computer number.
With loop communication: select one Master-
computer and set the rest of the computers as
Slave.
With network communication: ensure each
computer has a unique number.

EPROM check
At start up, an error was detected during
EPROM testing.
Turn the computer “off” and “on” and check
for correct functioning.

I/O - Alarm
Communication with an I/O-module has
been interrupted for a length of time.
Turn the computer “off” and “on” and check
for correct functioning.
