information about configuring redundant switches.
If you are installing the second switch in a redundant pair, be aware of
differences in the initial-boot procedure as outlined in Chapter 6,
Connecting the Switch to the Network .
Resilient Overlay Network (RON)
You can connect multiple ARXs to form a Resilient Overlay Network
(RON), which is composed of a series of IP tunnels between the switches.
The remote switches can be of any platform type. For information about
configuring RON tunnels, see the
ARX CLI Network-Management Guide
and the ARX CLI Reference .
Switch Management
For local and remote management, the ARX provides the following
management interfaces:
• Serial console port for accessing and managing the switch through a local
console terminal and command-line interface (CLI).
Chapter 6, Connecting the Switch to the Network , explains how to
configure the serial console port.
• 10/100/1000 Mbps out-of-band (OOB) Ethernet management port for
accessing the CLI or the web-based GUI from your management
network.

configure the OOB management interface.
• 12 copper gigabit Ethernet interfaces for accessing the CLI from client or
server networks.

server networks.
