to eliminate all error
conditions.
b. If the message on the display is not found in the
Front Panel Status and Error Messages
listing, the imagesetter requires service.
7.3.4 Does the Knife Jam Frequently?
NO -go to next item
YES - Check the following:
Background:
If the knife is not in the home position when the Cut key is pressed, then the knife
immediately travels to the home position. In this case, the Cut key
must be pressed a
second time in order to cut the media.
There are 2 possible error conditions related to the knife:
- indicates that the knife did not return to the home position.
This usually means that the knife jammed on the right to left
return pass (non-cutting).
- indicates that the knife returned to the home position
prematurely. This usually means the knife jammed on the
left to right pass (cutting) and that the media was not cut.
Both error conditions are cleared only by a successful cut or machine reset.
The following conditions will prevent a cut from starting:

Film feed in progress
2 -
The Imager is moving either home or away
3 -
The cover is open
4 -
Imaging is in progress
a. Make sure that the machine is sitting on hard level surface and that all four mounting feet are
in place.
b. Check the area where the top cover interlocks with the base of the unit and clear the area of
any foreign material that could keep the cover from closing all the way.
c. Make sure that the cover is pushed all the way down after having the cover open for any
reason.
d. Change the knife blade
e. If the above does not work, the cover may have been deformed or the knife sensor may have
gotten misaligned. Contact your service representative.
