3) Make sure that the powerbank is turned off (charge level indicators are off). If they
are lit, wait until they turn off. Jump starting the engine of a vehicle using the jump
starter is not preceded by the jump starter being turned on.
4) Before connecting the jumper cables to the car battery terminals, first
check which battery terminal is connected to the chassis of the vehicle. In
the majority of cases it is the negative terminal.
If the negative terminal (-) of the battery is connected to the chassis,
then
proceed as follows:
5a) Connect the starter cable of the device with a red clamp (+) to the positive
terminal on the battery (+) without the need to disconnect the power cord.
5b) Connect the device‘s starting cable with a black clamp (-) to the chassis of
the vehicle or to a fixed metal part of the vehicle connected to the frame of
the vehicle. Never connect the black cable directly to the negative pole of
the car battery or to parts that will be put in motion by the starting motor,
ensuring that they are as far as possible from the fuel tank.
Make sure that the contacts on the jumper cables cannot come into contact with the
rotating parts of the engine, which are put into motion when the engine is started.
If the positive terminal (+) of the battery is connected to the chassis,
then
proceed as follows:
6a) Connect the device‘s jumper cable with the black clamp (-) to the negative pole
of the car battery (-) without prior disconnection of the connected battery cable.
6b) Connect the device‘s starting cable with a red clamp (+) to the chassis of the
vehicle or to a fixed metal part of the vehicle connected to the frame of the
vehicle. Never connect the red cable directly to the positive pole of the car
battery or to parts that will be put in motion by the starting motor.
Make sure that the contacts on the jumper cables cannot come into contact with the
rotating parts of the engine, which are put into motion when the engine is started.
INDICATOR LIGHTS OF SMART JUMPER CABLES EXTOL® PREMIUM
8897321A (SUPPLIED WITH JUMP STARTER EXTOL® PREMIUM
8897321):
Smart jumper cables have a green and red LED indicator diode with
the following signals:
y
When the jumper cable clamps are correctly connected according to corre-
sponding polarity,
only the green indicator light will be lit.
If the red and green diode continues to flash intermittently, turn
the ignition key to the I. starting position, thereafter only the
green diode should be lit (the jump starter requires a load in order
to start).

ATTENTION
y
A condition for the successful jump starting of a vehicle using a jump starter is
a suffici-
ently charged jump starter and an acceptable temperature of the jump star-
ter
in the range from 10-40°C, though ideally at room temperature. Just because all the
charging indicator lights on the jump starter are lit does not necessarily mean that the
jump starter is fully charged. All the LED indicator diodes are lit also when the voltage
on the 12 V output of the jump starter is, for example, approximately 11.98 V, which in
the case of a car battery means that it is flat, however a fully charged jump starter has
a voltage on the 12 V output of 12.4 V. The lower voltage in the 12 V output of the jump
starter may not necessarily be a problem if the jump starter has a sufficient temperatu-
re.
In the event of a coincidence of events of a less charged jump starter and
its lower temperature, the battery‘s electronic protection may block the draw
of current when starting, and starting will not be possible which is indicated
by a specific signal, which is described later in the text.
To start a car engine, a
large starting current is required and so significant demands are placed on the battery
of the jump starter. With a falling temperature of the jump starter, the speed of the
chemical processes in the battery and the voltage on its output decline accordingly, the-
refore the temperature of the jump starter is a condition for successfully jump starting
a vehicle.
The lower the temperature of the device is in the specified range,
the more the jump starter battery should be charged.
For this reason, it is not
possible to have the jump starter in the vehicle during low temperatures, e.g. overnight
during winter and then attempt to start the vehicle with a cold device.
The ideal conditions for the use of the device are: the device is fully charged
(12.4 V) and at room temperature.
In the summer, a lower charge level of the jump starter may be sufficient to jump start
a vehicle, however, in colder weather it may be necessary to have the jump starter fully
charged. The sufficient charge level of the jump starter relative to its temperature nee-
ded to successfully jump start a vehicle needs to be verified using a practical test because
another important factor is the size of the necessary starting current of a given vehicle.
Note:
y
If the jump starter is new, fully charged and at room temperature, then after 5 conse-
cutive jump starts of a vehicle the voltage on the 12 V output will fall to approx. 12.1 V.
•
ATTENTION
y
In cold weather, the jump starter will cool down relatively quickly and, therefore, do
not expose the jump starter to a cold environment for longer than necessary, other-
wise, jump starting the vehicle may not be successful.
1) Before using the powerbank as an auxiliary jump starter, first make sure that all the
electrical devices inside the vehicle have been turned off (car radio, headlights, etc.)
and disconnect any appliances connected to the 12 V car cigarette lighter socket.
y
Before inserting the jumper cable connector into the jump starter socket, check
that the socket is clean, dry and undamaged. The cable connector must be fully
inserted in the socket to prevent overheating and melting of the plastic on the
connectors due to a high transition resistance when a high current is conducted.
2) Insert the jump start cable connector into the powerbank socket (see 12 V jump start
output fig. 7 or 8 depending on model).
y
After connecting the smart jumper cables to the jump starter
the green and red
indicator lights will flash intermittently.
