HD9010TM High Definition Time Code Master Manual

OPERATION

Revision 2.4.1

Page 3-9

3.4.1.  Configuring the Generator Mode

GEN MODE

The

GEN MODE

menu item is used to select the type of information

that is contained in the time and user bits of the generator.  When the
HD9010TM is not in the

Continuous Jam Sync

mode, the generator

Time bits contain time information entered from the front panel.  When
the HD9010TM is in the

Continuous Jam Sync

mode, the time bits are

slaved to the primary reader’s time.

Gmode: Time Data

configures the user bits for entering numeric data

entered from the front panel.

Gmode: Time Rtime

transfers the primary reader’s time bits to the

generator user bits.  (See section 3.5.1 for information on selecting the
primary reader)  Transferring reader time is useful when you want to
record new continuous time code numbers and still retain the original
time code numbers for future reference.

Gmode: Time Rub

transfers the primary reader’s user bits to the

generator time bits. (See section 3.5.1  for information on selecting the
primary reader)  Transferring the reader user bits is used when reader
time data previously transferred to user bits as above, or other user bit
information must be retained when recording new code.  When used in
conjunction with the Continuous Jam Sync mode,  both the time and
user bits will be transferred to the new tape.

Gmode: Time RCTL

sets the HD9010TM into a user bit remote control

mode.  In this mode six of the input pins on the parallel remote control
port are used to control the setting of the six remote control user bits.
When the 7721DD4-HD+GPI decoder module reads the RP188
ancillary time code, these encoded user bits directly control six contact
closure outputs.  When the HD9010TM is placed into the

TIME RCTL

mode, special binary group flags are set, signalling the remote control
mode to the decoder.  This allows an extra level of security at the
decoder and ensures that random user bit patterns do not inadvertently
activate the contact closure outputs of the decoder.

When the user selects the remote control mode, the generator user bits
will be set to:

XX 80 80 93

Where the value of XX depends on the states of the remote control
input pins.  See Table 3-5.

Gmode: time data
Gmode: time rtime
Gmode: time rub
Gmode: time rctl
