Hibernate mode (Win98SE)
Part I:
You need to create a special file for system hibernation use. Refer to
Chapter 5, Drivers & Utili-
ties, Suspend to Disk (Hibernate)
, page 5-8, for setup instructions.

Future Memory Upgrade
Your Suspend-to-Disk (Hi-
bernate) file should be as
large as or larger than the
size of your total memory
for
Windows to allow you
the option of enabling Hi-
bernate support. Before
you increase memory, be
sure to check if the
0vsus.dat
file is big
enough. By default, it is in
the root directory of Drive C.
Part II:
1. Click
Start
(menu), point to
Settings
and click
Control Panel
.
2. Double-click
Power Management
(icon) and click
Hibernate
(tab).

Note:
If the hibernate-specific file is not created or is not big enough,
the tab won’t appear.
3. Select
Enable hibernate support
(check box) and click
Apply
.

CTIVATING
Pressing the power button puts the system in hibernation. (You first
have to designate the power button as hibernate button as follows.)
1. Go to
Control Panel
>
Power Management
(icon) >
Advanced
(tab).
2. In the
When I press the power button on my computer
list click the
arrow and select
Hibernate
and then click
Apply
.

Press the power button and the system will restore to where it last left off.
