5.1.2.2 Separation Plate Gap Adjustment

To feed paper one by one from the paper feed tray into ADF in order, the
gap between the paper separation plate and paper feed roller must be
properly set. Failure in this adjustment may cause jamming or multiple
feeding of the document. Make this adjustment under the following
conditions:

q

Separation plate is removed.

q

Separation plate is replaced.

q

2 screws fixing the plate are loosened.

q

PF roller is replaced.

1.

Loosen 2 fixing screws securing the separation plate.

2.

Insert a thickness gauge between the bottom edge of the separation
plate and the PF roller surface. Make sure that the gauge is set at a
right angle with the plate.

3.

Push the plate down onto the thickness gauge surface and fasten the
fixing screws.
