Laser Power
The Double Head splits the laser beam in half after the laser beam leaves the laser
tube. The beam goes through a transmisive optic that is located on the beam
splitter/lens assembly. Half of the beam is directed down through the first focus lens
and the other half of the beam is allowed to pass through the transmisive optic to the
primary head. This system of splitting the beam in half also splits the power in half.
When the double head is installed, each head is putting out half the power of a single
head. Keep this is mind when you are using the double head. Depending on your
application, you may need to compensate for the change of power by reducing the
speed.
Not all
applications are going to be ideally suited for the Double Head attachment. For
example, very demanding materials that are very sensitive to slight variations in
power may not be a good use of the Double Head attachment. While the double head
splits the laser power very evenly, there may be some materials and/or environmental
factors (like optics that need cleaning) that contribute to an uneven split. Standard
materials like wood, acrylic, most coated metals, etc will probably never show the
effects of a split that is less than perfect, but if you have a material that is extremely
sensitive, remove the Double Head attachment and use the single head for this
application.
