Important information for the user for satisfying the safety function.
The information in this brochure about the use of the protective clothing must
always be observed.
This product is a piece of personal protective protection equipment (PPE) according to
Directive (EU) 2016/425.
The declaration of conformity can be found at the following link:
www.engelbert-strauss.com/declaration-of-conformity
General information:
The manufacturer provides information for the following norms:
This item corresponds to the EN ISO 13688:2013 (DIN EN ISO 13688:2013-12) Safety clothing-
General requirements – and the technical standard AS/NZS 4399:2017 Sun protective clothing.
Identification of the protection classes:
AS/NZS 4399:2017
UPF = Ultraviolet light protection factor (Ultraviolet Protection Factor)
50+ = Factor to prolong the natural protection time of the skin
For information about the correct protection class of your item, please see the sewn-in CE label
on the item.
The material composition of the textile is stated on the sewn-in care label.
Explanation of the symbols:
The factory symbol indicates the place of production, and the numbers indicate the
month and year in which the item was produced.
Protection performance of the PPE & risk analysis:
This item offers protection against natural UV radiation for a limited time.
The protective effect depends on your skin type. Please see the table below to establish the natu-
ral protection time of your skin; take this time and multiply it with the sun protection factor to work
out the time you can stay exposed to the sun. The item only protects against natural UV radiation
where it covers the skin. The more skin that is covered, the greater the protection. All exposed
areas of the body need to be protected by other sun protection items (glasses, hats, sun cream).
Also, other factors have an impact on the protective effect of the item: the tighter the garment, the
lower the protective effect.
The shirts cover the torso including the shoulders and 3/4 of the upper arms. The hat does not
offer any protection against reflecting or diffuse ultraviolet sunrays. The recommended rim width
of 6cm is reached. The protective effect is also limited by seams, expansion, wet or dirt.
GB
Correct use:
Combine the edge zones of the textiles with other sun protection products, for instance sun cream.
If possible, keep in semi-shady or shady places, and wear the items even if there is a moderate
amount of cloud. Ensure that you do not exceed the highest duration period for your skin type.
Information about correct cleaning & care, storage and durability:
The information on the care label is important for maintaining the protective effect. Only dry the
garments in the shade and store them in a dry place away from direct sunlight.
It is possible that wear or damage that occurs during everyday use will clearly reduce the life of
the clothing. Soiling such as dirt, wet, sweat, chlorine or salty water, or bleaching by sunlight can
reduce the life of the PPE.
