10 Maintenance
No special maintenance work is required.
10.1 Cleaning the antenna
The antenna may become contaminated depending on the application. Emission and
reception of microwaves can thus be potentially hindered. The level of contamination
leading to an error depends on the medium and on the reflectivity, mainly determined by
the dielectric constant ε
r
.
If the medium tends to cause contamination and buildup, cleaning on a regular basis is
recommended.

Care must be taken to ensure the device is not damaged in the process of mechanical or
hose-down cleaning.
‣
Material compatibility must be taken into account if cleaning agents are used!
‣
Do not exceed maximum permitted temperatures.
10.2 Process seals
The process seals of the sensor (at the process connection) should be replaced periodically.
The interval between changes depends on the frequency of the cleaning cycles, the
cleaning temperature and the medium temperature.
