ESDI DISK DRIVE INTERFACE

The MD21 Disk Controller interfaces with ESDI disk drives via one

34-line control cable, which is daisy-chained, and one or two

20-line data cables. Table 7-3 lists specifications for each type

of cable:

7.3.1 ESDI INTERFACE ELECTRICAL DESCRIPTION

7.3.1.1 Output Signal Characteristics

When measured at the ESDI device*s connection, each signal driven

by an ESDI device has the following output characteristics:

• Signal assertion = 0.0 VDC to 0.4 VDC

• Minimum driver output capability = 48 milliamperes (mA)

(sinking) at 0.4 VDC

• Signal negation = 2.5 VDC to 5.25 VDC
