2.4.1 Special Conditions
The purge medium must be supplied via a
separate flame arrestor (purge gas inlet),
installed into the analyzer enclosure. Another
flame arrestor must be installed, operating as
a breathing device (purge gas outlet).
Connection of breathing device:
The external output of the breathing device
(exhaust) can be open to the ambient of the
analyzer, if inert gas is used as purge medium.
If air is used, the output must end in a safe
area, if the measured gas concentration is
above
25 % V/V LEL.
2.4.1.1 Flammable Gases
Analyzers which can handle flammable gases have a containment system which is leak tight to
He leak rates < 1*10
-4
mbar l/s. The analyzers can be identified by the type plate and the order
-
ing code. In the external sample handling system it has to be assured that the maximum flow
of flammable sample gas into the containment systems is 1.5 l/min. Special provisions apply to
check the leak tightness during operation (see maintenance).

2.4 Installation – Gas Connections
EXPLOSION HAZARD BY HIGH PRESSURE
Risk of internal overpressure under leakage conditions!
For normal operation up to 1100 hPa (1.45 psig) sample gas pressure the
maximum flow into the containment system is 1.5 lpm for flammable gases.
For high pressure option up to 1500 hPa (7.25 psig) the maximum flow into
the enclosure is 1.0 lpm. The sum of gas flows into the enclosure including
purge gas flows not not exceed 2 l/min. Make sure to close gas supplies
before you open the front cover.
Take care of special conditions for safe use, and gas parameter specifications!
