RAW MATERIALS
The pellets can be made from diff erent
raw materials. The most common material
is wood, but there are suitable alternative
materials available on the market.
The raw materials have diff erent proper-
ties which give them both advantages and
disadvantages as a pellet fuel. The important
factors are the energy value, the ash content,
the volatile matter content, the environmen-
tal impact and, last but not least, the price.
You should choose a fuel which has the
lowest cost per unit of energy, taking into
account the fuel's function in the burner, the
ash content and the environmental impact.
Ecotec pellet burners are designed to be able
to burn most types of pellet fuels.
PELLET QUALITY
The majority of problems that occur because
of poor fuel quality are caused by faults in
the manufacturing, handling or interim stor-
age processes before the fuel reaches the
customer.
At high concentrations of fi ne chips are usu-
ally the lack of production and due to separa-
tion plant at the place of loading..
Sintering of the ash is often caused by
silicate impurities and cannot be identi-
fi ed before combustion. The pellets can
become damp during interim handling
and transport.
If possible, check when you buy the pel-
lets that they are clean and dry and have
not broken down into small particles.
