Setting the Temperature:
The Eccotemp FVI12-LP/NG models are MANUAL TEMPERATURE CONTROLLED water heaters.
This means that the temperature must be adjusted on the face plate of the water heater and not
at the output source (sink or shower).
When you try to mix hot water with cold at the output source, the heater will shut down because
as you mix in the cold water, you are decreasing the amount of required water pressure to keep
the water heater activated. The FVi12 is a pressure activated water heater and should maintain
at least 40-60 PSI of water pressure. When cold water is added, the pressure drops below the
activation point.
•
Manual Temperature Control:
You must adjust both
the gas knob and water knob in order to set the desired
output temperature of this water heater. As incoming
ground water temperatures changes, adjustments to both
the gas and water knob may be necessary to achieve
desired output temperature. Since this water heater is
pressure activated, adjustments may need to be made
manually to both water and gas knobs based on incoming
water pressure or incoming water pressure.
NOTICE: If inlet water temperature is high, and set
temperature is low, the actual temperature might be higher
than the set temperature, and viceversa..
DANGER: There is a hot water
scald potential if the temperature
is set too high. Households with
small children, disabled, or elderly
persons may require a 120°F or
lower temperature setting to
prevent contact with HOT water.
Output temperature of water is regulated by
setting the temperature on the front of the water
heater. Safety factors should be considered when
selecting the water temperature.
Water temperature above 120°F can cause severe
burns or death from scalding. The thermostat is
adjusted to its lowest temperature position when
shipped from the factory.
Be sure to read and follow the warnings outlined
in this manual and on the label located on the
water heater. Mixing valves are available for
reducing point of use water temperature by
mixing hot and cold water in branch water lines.
Procedures for adjusting the thermostat for
energy efficient operation at the minimum
water temperature setting consistent with the
consumer’s needs.
Contact a licensed plumber or the local plumbing
authority for further information. See page 4 for
details.

Automatic Temperature Control:
This water heater will
self-adjust both gas and water flow in order to achieve
desired output set temperature. No adjustments should
be needed as incoming water temperatures change.
WARNING: Should overheating occur or the gas supply fail to shut off, turn off the
manual gas control valve to the water heater.
NOTICE: If the BATH control ls turned on, the temperature setting on the MAIN control
cannot be changed. The BATH control(s) will always have PRIORITY over the MAIN control.
