7 Configuration
The Ms12 like most Sonix units, has been designed
to be configurable via the common Sonix software
interface. See the Sonix Administration Software (SAS)
user manual for all configuration options and status
displays available for the Ms12.
7 .1 Hardware links
7 .1 .1 Input type and link settings
Each of the Ms12 rear panel inputs can be configured
to be either volt free or up to 24V AC/DC input. The
links to select this are contained within the unit,
factory standard configuration is with 2 jumpers in
positions A and C for all initiate inputs.
Volt-free
Put jumper links in positions ‘a’ and ‘c’
for a nominal 5V internal source via
2200Ω (volt free).
Driven up
Place jumper link in position ‘b’ only for
to 24V ac/dc DC/AC driven input.

Do not exceed 24V ac or dc when the
inputs are configured to be driven. Damage will
occur to the unit..
7 .1 .2 CAT6A connector shield links
The A and B sides of the Sonix Ms12 unit are isolated
from each other. J9 and J10 on the PCB are two
jumper links to connect the shield from each CAT6A
connector to either Earth or to the respective 0V rail.

J9 and J10 should be left connected to ‘Earth’.
7 .2 Unit ID
Each Ms12 on a system needs to have a unique
identifier, called a Unit ID or number. This number,
between 1 and 31, is used to identify the unit to the 2Mx
central controller and within the SAS software.
To set the Unit ID, and to read or change configuration,
the SAS software installed on a computer with the
necessary Sonix data connection cable is required.
Please refer to the SAS user manual for further details.
7 .2 .1 Ping-set (Setting a new Unit ID)
The following procedure shows how to ping-set an
Ms12:
1. Connect Computer with SAS installed to a working
system via the data connection cable
2. Navigate to Ms12 configuration screen.
3.Press Ping-set and enter a new Unit ID.

Unit ID’s need to be unique for all Ms12’s on the system.
4.Once the software has sent the ping-set command
ALL Ms12’s which receive the command will flash th4
user selection LEDs for approximately 10 seconds.
5.Pressing the user selection and control switch on the
Ms12 during this 10 second window will cause that
local panel to accept the new Unit ID.
6.Any Ms12 which has not had the new unit ID
accepted, will discard the command and retain their
current Unit ID and configuration.

Ping-set and configuration in general can ONLY be completed
from the A-Side CAT6A connections.
