Ribbon sticks to the substrate When increasing the level of ribbon
economy, reduce the Print Head
Pressure setting to compensate for
extra friction forces that are applied on
the ribbon during printing. Reducing
the Print Head Pressure reduces the
friction forces that can cause the
ribbon to crease, stick to the substrate
or break.
The packaging machine is
signalling print go but nothing
happens Incorrect connection of the print signal.
Check the colours in the I/O cable.
There is no closed contact from the
packaging machine on print signal.
Check the packaging machine signal.
The I/O is set to ‘continuous’ on the
printer.
The packaging machine
continues running on ribbon
error The ready signal or the error signal
from the printer is not connected
correctly. Test from the diagnostic
menu on the printer.
The signal from the printer is
incompatible with the packaging
machine.
Display shows “Printer open” The printer detects whether the cover
or cassette is fitted.
Display shows “Ribbon error” A sensor within the printer body checks
how much of the ribbon is used. If this
error is displayed when the ribbon is
loaded check the ribbon path. Check
any slack in the ribbon. Check that the
ribbon core is not slipping on the
re-winder. Ensure that the pressure is
not too high for the ribbon, as the print
head may burn through the ribbon.
Display shows “Temperature
too low” The print head thermistor detects that
the print head has not achieved the
correct temperature. This indicates that
the print head thermistor, print head
cable or one of the connectors is faulty.
It will also occur if the print head heater
is activated but the heater is defective.
