SPARK PLUGS
Tool List Qty. Required
Spark plug wrench, 13/16" ........................................... 1
Plug gauge, wire type .................................................. 1
Using a 13/16" (21 mm) spark plug wrench, remove the
spark plugs at 250 - 300 hours or annually and inspect.
Clean and gap to .028 - .030 (.71 - .76 mm) (Ref Fig. 20
on page A-8). If a plug has been burned beyond .035"
(.89 mm), it should be replaced.

Fouled spark plugs are indicated by a wet, black appear­
ance. This could be caused by a dirty air filter element or
other restrictions in the air intake system. Incorrectly
adjusted valves, spark plug wires in poor condition or
poor quality fuel could also contribute to the problem.
Gap new spark plugs to .028 - .030 (.71 - .76 mm) (NGK
P/N BPR5ES service replacement plug).
Tighten to 18 ft. lbs. (24 Nm) torque.
CAUTION
Use care not to over tighten the plug.
Overtightening can cause damage to
the aluminum cylinder head threads.
DAILY BRAKE TEST
After the vehicle has been put into service, it is recom­
mended that the brakes be checked daily by performing
the following test:

All driving brake tests
must be done in a safe
location with regard for
the safety of all personnel.
Determine the braking performance of the vehicle by
latching the parking brake at a common point on a flat,
dry, clean paved surface while traveling at maximum
governed speed. Observe the vehicle stopping location.
For vehicles used in fleet applications: If the vehicle
stops in a significantly greater distance than other
acceptable vehicles, it should be tested again.
For vehicles used in individual applications: If the
vehicle stops in a significantly greater distance than nor­
mal or pulls to one side, it should be tested again.
If the vehicle fails the second test, it should
immediately
be removed from service. The vehicle needs to be
inspected by a qualified mechanic who should refer to
the BRAKES section.
TIRES
Tire condition should be inspected on a daily basis. Infla­
tion pressures should be checked when tires are cool. Be
sure to re-install the valve dust cap after checking or
inflating tire. For additional information, refer to WHEELS
AND TIRES section.
CARE AND CLEANING OF THE VEHICLE
It is important that proper techniques and cleaning mate­
rials be used.

requires the use of a mild soap solution applied with a
sponge or soft brush and wipe with a damp cloth.
Removal of oil, tar, asphalt, shoe polish, etc. will require
the use of a commercially available vinyl/rubber cleaner.
The painted surfaces of the vehicle provide attractive
appearance and durable protection. Frequent washing
with lukewarm or cold water is the best method of pre­
serving the painted surfaces.
