GENERAL  INFORMATION & ROUTINE MAINTENANCE 

Read all of Section B and this section before attempting any procedure. Pay particular attention to all Notes, Cautions and Warnings 

SERVICING THE VEHICLE 

A 

WARNING.A. 

Before attempting any 

service operation, read

and understand all the 

notes, cautions and warnings in this manual. 

It is in the best interest of both the vehicle owner and ser­

vicing  dealer  to  carefully  follow  the  procedures  recom­

mended  in  this  manual.  Adequate  preventative 

maintenance applied at regular intervals is the best guar­

antee for keeping the E-Z-GO vehicle both  dependable 

and economical.

Wear eye protection when working on or

around vehicle. In particular, use care 

,

when working around batteries, or when

using solvents or compressed air. 

To reduce the possibility of causing an 

electrical arc, which could result in a bat­

tery explosion, turn off all electrical loads from batter­

ies before removing any heavy gauge battery wires. 

Never operate vehicle at full throttle for more than 4-5 

seconds while vehicle is in a "no load" condition. 

In any product, components will eventually fail to perform 

properly as the result of normal use, age, wear or abuse. 
It is virtually impossible to anticipate all possible compo­

nent  failures  or  the  manner  in  which  each  component 

may fail. 

Be aware that a vehicle requiring repair indicates that the 

vehicle is  no longer  functioning as designed and there­

fore  should  be  considered  potentially  hazardous.  Use 

extreme care when working on any vehicle. When diag­

nosing,  removing or replacing any components that are 

not  operating  correctly,  take  the  time  to  consider  the 

safety ramifications if the component should move unex­

pectedly. 
Some components  are heavy,  spring loaded, highly cor­

rosive,  explosive  or  may  produce  high  amperage  or 

reach  high  temperatures.  Gasoline,  carbon  monoxide, 

battery  acid  and  hydrogen  gas  could  result  in  serious 

bodily injury to the technician/mechanic and bystanders if 

not treated with utmost caution.  Be  careful  not to place 

hands, face, feet or body in a location that could expose 

them to injury should an unforeseen situation occur. 

Always use the appropriate tools listed in the tool list and 

wear approved safety equipment. 

Before  a  new  vehicle is put into  operation,  it  is  recom­

mended  the  items  shown  in  the  INITIAL  SERVICE 

CHART be performed.

TOWING 

A 

WARNING.A. 

To prevent personal inju­

ry, do not ride on towed 

vehicle. 

CAUTION 

If the vehicle is to be towed, the direc­

tion  selector  should  be  put  in  neutral. 

The neutral lock, located on the rear axle, should be used to lock 

the direction selector in position. This will prevent it from mov­

ing into 'F' (forward) or 'R' (reverse) while being towed, causing 

damage to the rear axle. 

Use extra caution when towing vehicle. Do not tow a single vehi­

cle at speeds in excess of 12 mph (19 kph). Do not tow more than 

three vehicles at a time. Do not exceed 5 mph (8 kph) while tow­

ing multiple vehicles. Towing the vehicle at above recommended 

speed  may  result in  personal injury  and/or damage to vehicle 

and other property. 
Tow bars are not intended for road use. 

Tow  bars  to  fit  vehicles  are  available  from  the  E-Z-GO 

Service Parts Department. Tow bars are not intended for 

use on public roads or highways. 

Neutral Lock 

To prevent the driven clutch from turning during towing, a 

neutral  lock  is  located  on  the  rear  axle  (Ref  Fig.  4  on 

page A-3). 
To  operate,  place  the  direction  selector  in  the  position 

between 'F' and 'R'. Turn the key switch to 'OFF'. Lift the 

seat  for  access  to the  rear  axle.  Rotate  the  pin  on  the 

transmission shift lever as shown. The pin will snap into a 

cavity in the transmission housing. When in this position,
