2. Restrictions / Notes
FILTERING RESPIRATORY PROTECTION EN12941
2.14
Filter devices should not be used if the environmental conditions are unknown. In cases of doubt, isola-
ting systems should be used which operate independently of the environmental atmosphere.
2.15
Filter units are not allowed to be used in confined spaces (e.g. containers, tanks), as a lack of oxygen or
heavy oxygen displacing gases (e.g. carbon dioxide) may occur.
2.16
When a filter unit is used, the oxygen content of the surrounding air must be at least 17% by volume (this
limit may vary according to national regulations). The product cannot be used if the ambient air does not
have a normal oxygen concentration or in atmospheres with oxygen or oxygen-enriched air.
2.17
A gas filter does not protect against particles and a particle filter does not protect against gases and va-
pours. If in doubt, use combination filters.
2.18
Normal filter devices don’t offer protection against certain gases such as CO (carbon monoxide), CO2
(carbon dioxide) or N2 (nitrogen) and nitrogen oxides.
2.19
Particle filters against radioactive substances and microorganisms (viruses, bacteria, fungi and their spo-
res) should only be used once.
2.20
Carefully check the identification of the filters to be used together with the blower and make sure not to
confuse the classification according to EN 12941 or EN 12942 with the classification of the blower accor-
ding to other classification standards.
2.21
Filters should not be attached directly to the face mask or breathing hose.
2.22
Minimum air volume flow PAPR >160 l/min
ISOLATING RESPIRATORY PROTECTION EN14594
2.23
The breathing air to be used must comply with EN12021.
2.24
The water content of the breathing air must be kept within the limits of EN 12021 to prevent the device
from freezing.
2.25
The product must not be used in atmospheres with oxygen or oxygen enriched air.
2.26
The device may not provide adequate protection in highly toxic atmospheres.
2.27
When using hearing protectors or noise-reducing communication equipment, the reduced audibility of the
warning of the compressed air control valve must be taken into account and appropriate instructions must
be provided.
2.28
Minimum volume flow of compressed air control valve >160 l/min
Maximum volume flow of compressed air control valve < 310 l/min
