Caring for your Furniture
To keep your new item looking its best, we recommend you dust regularly and wipe clean with a damp
cloth, ensuring any spills are removed immediately.
If using a polish to maintain your product, ensure the polish you are using is correct for your product and
always do a patch test of polish or cleaning product on a discrete area before applying it to the whole
product.
1.
To ensure colour consistency, if you’re using more than one tin of any colour, check the
batch numbers are the same. If they’re not, thoroughly mix the contents of both tins
together before you start.
Now prepare your surface. Remove any sharp edges or flaking paint with fine sandpaper.
There’s no need to go back to bare wood, just sand enough to create a smooth surface.
Then wipe away any dust with a dry cloth so it doesn’t spoil the final finish.
2.
If there are any sections of the furniture which do not require painting, for example oak
surfaces, we recommend these are taped off to prevent any splashes or wobbly lines.
3.
If the wood has any cracks or dents, buy some wood filler and patch it, following the
instructions on the packaging. Once it’s set, be sure to sand it again so the entire surface
is uniform.
4.
Purchasing a high-quality specialist furniture paint is always recommended. It is always
vital to follow the instructions on the packaging to achieve the desired finished.
5.
If, in many years to come, you’d like to repaint your furniture, you absolutely can. For best results, we
suggest following the steps below put together by our furniture team.
We recommend that our oak finishes shouldn’t be re-treated. The reason being that the oak veneers
shouldn’t be sanded, and achieving the same level of finish is almost impossible to recreate.
