5.1 Routine Maintenance
STOP
Make sure to clean ink accumulations from the type holder and heater block at least
once a week. Use only a rag and blunt, non-metallic, non-marking scraper to prevent
damage to the anodized aluminum surface. Ink buildup on the heater block will
insulate the ink roll from reaching the correct operating temperature.
Clean hot melt ink from the DK-1100A as follows:
1- Bring the print head up to operating temperature.
2- Remove the ink roll and type holder (wipe excess ink from the type holder and
brass types while they are hot).
3- Protect your hands from being burned, taking a clean rag and wipe as much ink
from the inside of the heater block as possible.
Do not use screwdrivers, pliers or other tools to pry types with ink
accumulations, which could do harm to type holder.
