for the Direct Supply Panacea 1000-FLEX bed and it is locked in 
place. Failure to lock assist devices may result in injury or death.

NEVER permit more 

than (1) person in /on the bed at any time. NEVER exceed the 
weight capacity of this bed. The weight capacity of this bed is 450 
lbs (204 kg) including accessories and options (not all accessories 
and options may be used at the same time). Subtract residents/
patients weight from beds capacity 450 lbs (204 kg) to determine 
allowable weight for mattress, bed panels, accessories, and 
optional equipment. See Accessories Section for accessory 
weights.

by Direct Supply on any Direct Supply Panacea bed. Use of

Direct Supply Panacea beds, consult with the manufacturer for 
compatibility and limitations prior to use. Failure to do so may

 Radio transmitting equipment, cellular phones, or 

similar electronic devices, used in proximity of bed, may affect 
bed performance.

 

CAUTION:

 Particular precaution must be considered during 

exposure to strong emission sources such as High Frequency 
surgical equipment and   similar devices. Do not route High 
Frequency cables on or near device. If in doubt, contact a qualified 
technician.

NOTE:

 Electromagnetic disturbances may contribute to the 

improper operation of medical devices.  In the case of a bed, 
it may affect the performance of the bed movement when a 
function is selected.  Do not place the bed in a location that is 
known to have high electromagnetic fields.

 

WARNING:

 Use of this equipment adjacent to or stacked with 

other equipment should be avoided because it could result in 
improper operation. If such use is necessary, this equipment and 
the other equipment should be observed to verify that they are 
operating normally.

 

WARNING:

 Use of accessories, transducers, and cables other 

than those specified or provided by the manufacturer of this 
equipment could result in increased electromagnetic emissions or 
decreased electromagnetic immunity of this equipment and result 
in improper operation.

 

WARNING: 

Portable RF communications equipment (including 

peripherals such as antenna cables and external antennas) should 
be used no closer than 30 cm (12 inches) to any part of the Direct 
Supply Panacea 1000-FLEX bed, including cables specified by the 
manufacturer. Otherwise, degradation of the performance of this 
equipment could result.

NOTE:

 The EMISSIONS characteristics of this equipment make it 

suitable for use in industrial areas and hospitals (CISPR 11 class 
A). If it is used in a residential environment (for which CISPR 
11 class B is normally required) this equipment might not offer 
adequate protection to radio-frequency communication services. 
The user might need to take mitigation measures, such as 
relocating or re-orienting the equipment.

 

CAUTION:

 This device complies with EMC requirements of 

IEC 60601-1-2. Radio transmitting equipment, cellular phones or 
similar electronic devices, used in proximity of bed, may affect 
bed performance.

 

CAUTION:

 In the absence of line voltage, all bed adjustments 

can be achieved via an externally available backup battery (Direct 
Supply Panacea P/N N211).

 

WARNING: Possible Shock Hazard.

 If the bed power cord has 

a hospital-grade, 3-prong grounding plug, grounding reliability can 
only be achieved when equipment is connected to an equivalent 
receptacle marked hospital-grade.

 

WARNING: Possible Injury.

 Sitting on or sliding over the 

Mattress Side Stop can cause skin injury if the bed mattress 
compresses to less than 1.5 inches under user’s weight.

 

WARNING: Possible Injury. 

Risk of entanglement or injury 

may occur if mattress used with Mattress Side Stop does not fill 
the entire width between stops or which compresses to less than 
1.5 inches under user’s weight.

 

CAUTION: 

The Direct Supply Panacea 1000-FLEX bed is 

intended for use within institutional healthcare environments 2, 
3, and 5 (ie: skilled nursing, transitional care, rehabilitational care, 
assisted living). Direct Supply recommends compliance to the 
regulations and guidelines specific to your locality.

Panacea assist devices are designed to be used with specific 
Panacea bed frames. Once mounted on the appropriate bed frame, 
assist devices become an integral part of the Panacea bed system. 
As such, these mounted assist devices, meet the IEC 60601-2-52 
Bed Standard, within normal use conditions, of the appropriate bed 
to which they are mounted. 

Assemble, install, utilize, and maintain Panacea Assist Devices as 
described in their accompanying Panacea User/ Service Manual, 
which also lists the bed type or model with which these devices 
may be used. 

This product is only one part of your healthcare bed system. 
Proper combinations of mattress, head/foot panels and assist 
devices are needed to minimize the risk of entrapment. For more
