Table 5–4 (Cont.) Troubleshooting a DECrepeater 90FA in a DEChub 90
Backplane
If...
Then...
Do this...
If port 2 status LED does not
light, at least momentarily
Replace the repeater.
If port 2 status LED does light,
even if only momentarily
Restore all port connec-
tions on the repeater.
Check the port 0 status LED. If
the port 0 status LED is off
Check to see that the
repeater is properly
installed in the DEChub
90. Using previous
troubleshooting steps,
ensure that the port
0 status LED and
network activity LED
are functioning before
troubleshooting port 2.
If the repeater is properly
installed in the DEChub 90
and the port 2 status LED goes
off, then it is likely that port
2 is segmented. Correction of
the segmentation fault should
correct the problem.
Check the AUI connection.
Ensure that the cable is
properly connected and the
slide latches are secured.
If the AUI connection is secure
Check that the MAU is
being powered by the
repeater. (Most MAUs
have a Power OK LED.)
If the MAU is not powered by
the repeater
Replace the repeater.
If the MAU is powered by the
repeater, the fault is probably
due to an improper MAU
connection to the medium.
Ensure that the medium is
correctly attached and that
it is properly terminated.
Correction of the medium
attachment should resolve
the problem.
