For sharpening, a special holder with a round file ø4 mm must be used. Conventional round files are unsuitable
for this purpose. Sharpening should only be done by moving the file forward (in the direction of the arrow).
When the file moves backward, the pressure on the device should be reduced (Fig. 24).
First, the shortest saw tooth is sharpened. Its length is the specified length for sharpening all other teeth of the saw
chain. The file should be guided as shown in the figure. The file holder makes it easier to handle during
sharpening, it is marked with the correct sharpening angle of 30° (markings should be aligned in the direction
of the saw chain). It limits the penetration depth (4/5 of the file diameter) (Fig. 25).

Even a slight excess of the tooth of the depth gauge must be ground off with a special flat file. The depth gauge
should be rounded in front.
At the end of the grinding process, it is necessary to check the height of the depth gauge using a chain
measuring gauge (Fig. 26).
