Double-touch reading
The scanner can read UPC-A and EAN-13 bar codes wider
than the readable area of the reading window. To scan such
wide bars, you need to read first the right (or left) half of the
bar code together with the center bar and then read the
remaining half. The system combines the split data into one
bar code.
After the scanner reads the first half of the bar code so that the
half data is stored, the beeper keeps sounding intermittently.
In double-touch reading, make the first and second runs closely
in succession without a long pause inbetween. If the pause
between the first and second runs is over one second, then the
scanner will cancel out the reading, discard the stored data, and
stop beeping.
