TRANSPORT TO OPERATIONAL AREA, ADVICES FOR COMPACTING
Transport to operational area with lifting device:
-
stop the engine.
-
please make sure that the lifting device is able to lift the machine sufficiently according to the
weight.
-
fix the lifting hook at the marked point at the frame of the compactor (lifting point) and lift the
machine slowly to avoid injuries.
-
pay attention that nobody is under suspended loads during the lift.
With the transport wheels:
If you are using transport wheels the engine has to be stopped in every case. If the engine is running
the engine lubrication is not guaranteed. Severe engine damages can occur. Also an oil leaking at the
crankshaft-housing can be the result.
Respect also the prescriptions concerning the safety instructions.
Advices for compacting:
Condition of the soil to be compacted:
The maximum filling height depends on several parameters concerning the condition of the soil, like
humidity, the grading and sizes of the particles etc. Because of this it is not possible to give a definite
value of the filling height.
At very dry places dust can be raised during work. In this case to improve compacting you can
moisturise the soil before compacting.
Recommendation:
In some cases you can find out the maximum filling height by making some
compacting tests and taking soil samples.
Compacting at hillside situations:
The following points have to be respected by compacting at hillside situations or embankments:
-
at an increasing inclination only drive upwards ( a hill which can be driven upwards without
any problems can also be driven downwards safely).
-
the user is not allowed to stand into the falling direction.
-
do not exceed the maximum allowed inclined position of 20 percent.
An exceeding of the maximum inclined position would result in severe engine
damages because the lubrication of the engine would not be enough.
Compacting with the plate compactor rubber mat:
Natural stones and paving stones are protected against damages if you use the mat. At other soils like
grained surface or lose soils (like sand, gravel, etc) you have to remove the mat.
It is not allowed to use the compactor on hard compacted surfaces like concrete.
Damages at the engine and plate can happen because the machine can not vibrate on compacted
surfaces and will just pitch on the hard ground.
