AX100-Series - Installing a Fibre Channel Storage System with a Direct Connection to a Solaris Server
Installing PowerPath on the Server
Installing PowerPath on the Server
For
all
configurations you
must
install PowerPath
®
on
each
server that
you will connect to the storage system. PowerPath manages the data
paths between the server and storage system.
If PowerPath is already running on the server and you do not need or
want to upgrade to a higher version, do one of the following:
◆
For a new AX100SC (single-SP) storage system, go to
◆
For a new AX100 (dual-SP) storage system, go to
◆
For an existing storage system (that is, one already connected to
another server), go to
Connecting the Storage System to the Server
Before You Start
To complete this procedure, you need to
❑
Locate the PowerPath for Solaris CD that shipped with the
storage system.
❑
In the
/etc/system
file, make sure the timeout value is set to 60
seconds. This minimizes path failover time without
compromising online storage-system microcode or base code
upgrades. The entry must be a hexadecimal number:
set ssd: ssd_io_time = 0x3C
❑
Optionally, configure the host to send warnings to the console
instead of just to the log file:
a. Add the following line to the
/etc/syslog.conf
file:
local
x
.Warn /dev/sysmsg
where
x
is a value that is not used by any other
local
setting
in
/etc/syslog.conf.
For example:
local0.Warn /dev/sysmsg
The separator between
local
x
.Warn
and
/dev/sysmsg
must be a tab
character.
