Installing Applications on the Rhino™ 10
There are several ways you can install applications on the Rhino™ 10:
You can package your application as a cabinet (.cab) file and install it on the Rhino™ 10.
If you have a simple application, you may only need to install the .exe file.
You can copy a directory structure that contains the application, supporting files, DLLs, images, and data
files.
Datalogic recommends using .cab files to install your applications. The Rhino™ 10 uses standard Windows CE .cab
files and will install third-party .cab files. You can have your .cab files place your application in any of these memory lo-
cations on the Rhino™ 10:
Flash File Store. The Flash File Store is an area of storage which is embedded in a section of the system
flash memory. This storage is not erased during a reboot. Although it might be erased during the reflashing
process (or a clean boot).
The optional SD card. If you are using an SD card, this should be the primary location to place application
installation files as it is not erased during a reflashing process.

The following sections explain how to use each one of these processes to install your application on the Rhino™ 10.
Installing Applications Using Your USB Flash Drive
To install applications using a USB Memory device
1. Copy your application file to the USB Flash Drive.
2. Insert the USB Flash Drive into one of the USB ports on the Rhino™ 10.
3. Copy the application onto the FlashDisk or the StorageCard.
Installing Applications Using Your SD Card
To install applications using an SD card:
1. Copy your application file to an SD card.
2. If you are using an FTP server, or Wavelink Avalanche to copy the files to the SD card, place the application
in the SD Card folder located in
My Windows Mobile-Based Device
