2.2.8

Powering On the S2A9550

NOTE :

Systems which have dual S2A9550 (couplets) should be powered on simultaneously in

insure correct system configurations.

1.

If necessary, remove the front cover(s).

2.

Verify that the power switches on the four power supplies at the front of each unit are off.

3.

Using the power cords provided, connect the two AC connectors at the back to your AC
power source for each unit. For maximum redundancy, connect the two power connectors
to two different AC power circuits for each unit.

4.

Check that all your drive enclosures are powered up and the drives are spun up and ready.

5.

Turn on the power supplies on the S2A9550 unit(s).

The S2A9550 goes through a series of system diagnostics and the bootup sequence is
displayed on your terminal. Wait until the sequence is complete and the S2A9550 system
prompt is displayed. The prompt can be changed by the user. In this user guide, all screens
display the S2A9550 system prompt as “S2A>”.

NOTE :

Do not interrupt the boot sequence without guidance from DataDirect Networks

Technical Support.

6.

You may now configure the system as described in Section 2.3.
