Please note that the daisy-chaining capability is limited to

. The explanation
below will focus on the Model DMVW8L8-NA-300
MULTI
view

and MULTINET
switch

installation configura-
tion shown in
Figure C3
. To make interconnection between
multiple LAN
switches
™
and individual network segments,
follow the steps below:
Step 1:

is to be used, it must be
the first switch.
) Connect the computer platform Fast
Ethernet card RJ45 port to the
LAN COMMON
port of the
MULTI
view
™
switch using a DRL366-1 cable. Then connect
the
LAN 8
port of the MULTI
view
™
switch to the
LAN
Common Port
of the second Datacom LAN
switch
™
using a
DRL366-3 cable. Connect the computer platform WAN card
DB15 port to the
WAN COMMON
port of the MULTI
view
™
switch using a DRL312-1 cable. Then connect the
WAN 8
port of the MULTI
view
™
switch to the
WAN Common Port
of
the second Datacom LAN
switch
™
using a DRL312-3 cable.
Step 2:
Connect network cables to the desired Network ports
of each MULTINET
switch
™
.
Step 3:
Plug the Female end of a power cord into the recep-
tacle on the back of the MULTI
view
™
cabinet and the Male
end of the power cord into a grounded wall receptacle that is
located in close proximity to the MULTIview
™
unit. A green
light within the center of the Datacom front panel logo indi-
cates power is on.
Step 4:
Connect a Power Supply 5-pin DIN Male connector
into the
Power
port of the MULTINET
switch
™
and then plug
the Power Supply into the external power source wall recep-
tale. A green light within the center of the Datacom front
panel logo indicates power is on.
Step 5:
Ensure that the Datacom Systems ATTACH
it
™
Console, ATTACH
it
™
Agent, Sniffer Technologies
DSS/RMON Pro Console, and DS Pro Agent are properly
connected, and configured to communicate in the enterprise
network environment.
After the daisy-chain hardware installation is complete, the
switch control software must be configured or reconfigured.
