3.2.1.2 Harmonics Emission Requirements
For equipment connected to the public supply network
compliance with the following standards is required:

IEC 61000-3-2, Limits for harmonic current emissions
(equipment input current ≤ 16A per phase)
The scope of IEC 61000-3-2 is equipment connected to the
public low-voltage distribution system having an input
current up to and including 16 A per phase. Four emission
classes are defined: Class A through D. The Danfoss
frequency converters are in Class A. However, there are no
limits for professional equipment with a total rated power
greater than 1 kW.
IEC 61000-3-12, Limits for harmonic currents produced
by equipment connected to public low-voltage systems
with input current >16A and ≤75A
The scope of IEC 61000-3-12 is equipment connected to
the public low-voltage distribution system having an input
current of 16–75 A. The emission limits are currently only
for 230/400 V 50 Hz systems and limits for other systems
will be added in the future. The emission limits that apply
for drives are given in Table 4 in the standard. There are
requirements for individual harmonics (5th, 7th, 11th, and
13th) and for THD and PWHD.

It is the responsibility of the installer or user of the
equipment to ensure, by consultation with the distribution
network operator if necessary, that the equipment is
connected only to a supply with a short-circuit power S
sc
greater than or equal to that specified above.
Other power sizes can be connected to the public supply
network by consultation with the distribution network
operator.
Compliance with various system level guidelines:
The harmonic current data in the table are listed in
accordance with IEC/EN 61000-3-12 with reference to the
Power Drive Systems product standard. These data may be
used
•
as the basis for calculation of the influence of
harmonic currents on the power supply system,
and
•
for the documentation of compliance with
relevant regional guidelines: IEEE 519 -1992; G5/4.
