4 Requirements
4.1
General
Unfavourable local conditions may shorten the life of the product and can cause malfunc-
tions or damages.
Do not install/operate the device in places
• with large scale dust and dirt.
• with steam or oil vapours (e.g. kitchen).
• with direct sunlight.
• strong heat emission (e.g. radiator).
• with improper ambient temperatures.
• near sources of strong radiation (e.g. radio transmitters, magnetic fields).
• with corrosive surroundings (e.g. gases, salt water).
• insufficient air ventilation (e.g. closed cabinet).
4.2
Power Supply
The device can be operated via PoE (Power over Ethernet, Class 0) or at 24 V AC.
Ensure that the existing network supports the PoE standard IEEE 802.3af if you want
to supply the device with power over Ethernet.
Note that the built-in heater of the weather-proof variant must be separately supplied with
24 V AC (max. 3 A) if required.
4.3
outdoor
For outdoor installations, use the weather-proof variant.
However, note that direct insolation can cause very high temperatures inside the housing.
In this case use the corresponding sunshield.
4.4
operation
Observe the following notes for the operation of the device:
• If the device or the cables connected to the device are located near sources of strong
radiation, the video image may be distorted.
• The device is equipped with automatic gain control (AGC). In low light the image may
be altered (e.g. noise). This is not a malfunction.
• The quality of the video image depends on the lens, the lighting and the used moni-
tor.
• Automatic white balance depends on the lighting used and can cause colour distor-
tions in artificial light.
• Poor lighting can lead to faulty white balance.
